Stories from Radhagopinath Community of Love
December 1992. Riots paralyzed Mumbai. The monks at Radha Gopinath temple had to cancel their outdoor engagements—discoursing on spirituality at universities and at homes—temporarily. One day Radhanath Swami thumbed through the calendar for forthcoming festivals. Festive celebrations, he felt, could keep up the devotional spirit of the devotees during such times.
Stories from Radhagopinath Community of Love
What’s really impressive about the Radha Gopinath Temple is its non-fanatic spiritual community. I am a follower of a spiritual path with spiritual practices different from those followed by the community. Yet, in the past twelve years, though I pay daily visits to the temple, never have I come across anyone there with a condescending attitude towards me. They respect me for what I am.
And Radhanath Swami, their leader, goes a step ahead: he loves me for what I am. In his own words, “Rajeev, even if you ever leave me, I will never leave you.”
